Marsha P. Johnson was a gay liberation activist and co-founded the group STAR( Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries), which provided housing and support for LGBTQ+ youth and sex workers in New York. She was an artist and performer who spoke out against police brutality. Although she died in 1992, the changes she helped bring about are still prominent today.
